I wasn't sure what to do to "set up" my IO550N when all the specs are for sea level. My plane won't idle at full rich. I start with the mixture pulled out about an inch, and lean another inch after engine start. During my 25 hours, I never landed at a field below 6000 feet. I think I ended up tweaking up the idle speed a little. I didn't want it to die on final, or on the runway. All was well until my first real cross country to SNF last year. I landed at Wiley Post, 1200 elevation and the engine was idling really high! Fortunately I had plenty of runway for my "power on" landing. I pulled the cowl and adjusted the idle back down, but I was really nervous for my return to the high country. I left the mixture out about 1 1/2" for landing and it ran just fine. All that said, is there any way to properly set up my engine here at my field?
