However, it took a combination of shortening the piston rod, screwing the rod end on further and reversing the bracket that's bolted onto the hard point to give us the length required to adequately shorten the length of the down stroke. There was enough thread on the piston rod to allow us to do that but be sure that when you screw the rod end back on that the hole therein is covered with the rod's thread. Check out that top bracket first though. If it's not of equilateral dimension and the end of the bracket that the hole favours is placed towards the aft of the aircraft as the manual shows, try turning it around, that will give you and extra ¼".
