Just about to start on my 235 nose gear tunnel have several questions:
1) Noted a difference in the location for the upper nose gear door
actuator attach phenolic insert in two places in the manual:
Fig 176 on page 181 shows the insert to be butted up against the
firewall but Fig 150 on page 156 shows the insert to be located
approximately 5.5 inches aft of the firewall. I suspect the
location on page 181 is correct can anyone confirm?
2) It appears if the location of the GM27 weldment pivot point is
moved up by about 0.25" the oleo gear strut could be raised to a
location that would allow the tire to completely tuck into the
wheel well eliminating the need for a 'bump' on the nose gear
door. Has anyone done this or are the constraints of the length
of the overcenter link and needed angle of strut the controlling
factor in the placement of the GM27 pivot?
3) How have others constructed the nose gear door with the 'Bump'.
(have you just shaped Al plate with a phenolic hammer and sandbag)?
Thanks you in advance.
