I found a beutiful latch that seals well and is of the type used on the big 
jets for engine access panels.  Bought it at the fly Market at OSH for $7.50. 
 I dug it out of the drawer and found the following

That is all that was written in the latch. It is a thing of beauty with two 
round buttons (open and close), positive latch, spring loaded, and the 
buttons are sealed with rubber rings.  All stainless.   If I had a digital 
camera, I would send a picture in the open and closed position  May be worth 
some research.  May be expensive, but who knows?  Let us know if you turn up 
anything.  We could use a source like this assuming that it is not available 
at premium aerospace pricing.

[I spoke with the folks at Freeman Aviation this morning per Bob Jude's 
suggestion and found that they have both the H5000-2 Hartwell latches
as well as the 2-button type which you described.  Their price on the
former is $10, and $12.50 for the 2-button style.    <Marv>   ]
