Mike DeHate had a good idea. He mounted the large Kevlar bottle available from Lancair/Mountain High cross ways in front of the main spar under his thighs. It interferes only slightly with foot room, and only when you pull your feet way back. It also moves the CG a bit forward compared to other installations. You can see the pressure gage directly, turn the bottle off and on directly, and easily remove the bottle with a couple of bank clamps. I plan to use the same installation location with the Mountain High electronic oxygen dispensers mounted in the side walls in recesses with adjacent recesses for the hoses and masks. I recommend painting the inside of the belly anywhere hydraulic fluid could squirt out and soak into the carbon core. I used System 3 water based white epoxy primer because it is water based (no odor or solvents needed), easy to work, dries with a semigloss finish, and can be brushed on. Two coats works just fine to seal the core, and it has proven durable. One quart from Aircraft Spruce will be more than adequate. Alternate is the Poly Fiber Smooth Prime water based primer, but it dries flat white. Paint late in the assembly process after you are sure have bonded all your brackets, etc., as it is tough to sand off when you want to bond something. I also painted the area under the hydraulic pump aft of bulkhead 171 for the same reason.
