Scott Krueger Said:
It was taking too long, so a call to the factory determined that it was
one
of about every 20 engines that are pulled after production and torn down
by
the FAA to check tolerances, etc.
This results in a "Blue-Tagged" engine which some people actually request
and pay a premium for the honor.
I've worked 15 years as an Mfg./Ind. Engineer for several engine companies.
WHY IN THE HELL DO THEY TEAR DOWN EVERY 20 ENGINES?? DON'T THEY HAVE
CONTROL OF THEIR MANUFACTURING PROCESS!!!!!
If you control every process of every part going into an engine there is no
reason to tear down every 20 engines! Do you know how stupid this sounds
to a Manufacturing professional? What a waste of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Build
it right the first time!!!!!!!!!!
If this is how they make engines, I'm surprised that I haven't had an
engine failure!!!
Be very afraid!!
