It had 14 landings on it.

That sounds about like mine. I was under 100 hours. The kicker on mine
was the piece fell out; then the pads closed together in the gap.
Remaining rotor impacted the closed pads. Whammo! We were then
skidding. Happening at high speed would've been catostrophic. The
wheel didn't turn until the remaining rotor was removed. That's why I
feel you're so lucky.
