I know there is a good bunch of guys over on homeshopmachinist that might shed some light on why it happened. That is unless it is obvious. I had the motor shaft of my mill/drill snap. I sent them some pictures. Got back some good ideas. At the least take us some close-up pictures and post them. Glad you're landing was a non-event!
