While a lot of heavy hitters are at FIS I thought I would put out the wish list for my RV-7A qb.
Ten years ago I built an RV-6 and flew it for 260 hrs. For the last year I have been building a RV-7A incorporating what I liked and changing what I disliked in my 6. I changed to a nose wheel, tip up canopy, 56 gal. fuel capacity and a medium gray canopy. I kept: flying from the right, infinity grips and a few others thingsI can't remember. I ardently wish to change from the Lycoming O-360 to a less expensive, smoother, more powerful and more dependable engine.
Now the engine.... I must digress... I am the lucky owner of two, not just one, seldom flown, but beautiful L-29C Delfin jet trainers. Talk about a smooth and reliable engine. Talk about fuel burn......150
This brings me to the fire wall forward wish list.
I would like a 220 hp Renisis with Tracy"s controller and C re-drive. From somewhere , could be Fred B, motor mount, intake manifold / throttle body, exhaust manifold, custom designed cowling with a well engineered water/oil cooling system . I see the cowling for my 7A looking like the front of a King Air's nacelle, with the air intake below the engine. Air comes in , expands, goes through the cores and exits through a duct that optimizes the flow.
Will James is building a cowling starting June 15 for the Powersport engines that are out there. This cowling has a oval opening below the prop located in free air.
I would like to use a three bladed prop perhaps a Cato.
I know a lot you have invested a huge amount of time and work into getting the rotaries to their current stage of development. There must be folks out there who can design and fabricate the missing pieces of the puzzle. It seem there is a lot of re inventing the wheel. I live in Redding CA where it really gets hot in the summer, say two months over 100 degrees. I have a lot of interest in a good looking cowling with more then an adequate cooling system.
