Thanks Jim, that's
interesting to know. I don't recall the bosses you're talking about, but
I'll look when I get home next weekend. Best I recall, the intake and TWM
"might" fit under the cowl, if I don't have the injectors sticking up
on the top of the TWM. I was thinking about trying to modify the
flange to turn the TWM over 180 degrees, so the injectors would be on
the bottom side. The other option was to angle the flange down about
45 degrees, to let the injectors clear the top of the cowl
cheek. Your alternate injector idea might give me a third
option.
Are you running a 6-port
engine? The other problem I have with the Atkins intake is
that it has huge secondary ports, made to cover the ports in the
6-port. The secondary ports are much larger than the ports on
my 4-port engine. There are a couple ways I could fix that,
but with all the mods, it almost seems (I never learn
<g>) easier to make a similar intake from scratch.
This port mismatch is
something that is certainly bad, but "just how bad" is the question. My
previous manifold was the Atkins wrapover intake, and it had the same
mismatch. I never even noticed until after I removed it.
The turbo might have made it less of an issue.
Cheers,
Rusty
