I have to say, an my wife agrees, the turbo does not make a very
good muffler. The loudness is on the very outside edge of what is
tolerable.

I'd say this is a
correct statement. Mine was loud to the point where I had to use special
ear seals on my Lightspeed headset to stop them from being overwhelmed.
There were a number of folks grumbling about the noise at the airport too, but
mostly because they're grumpy old men with nothing better to do :-)
Anyway, the primary comment I got from the first NA flight with the Spin Tech,
was that it was soooooo much quieter than before.
