Doug, I have not had this failure but have taken steps to prevent it.
Those "computer" chips are PLCC socketed devices - please carefully check that "A" is properly seated in its socket.
Whether it is or isn't seated, modify the lid on your case to have rubber bumpers that just touch the tops of those chips, this will prevent them from popping out of the socket.
