I ended up with an adapter that looks very similar to what Dale has done.  I started with the sensor mounted in a
4-port, firewall-mounted, two-can filter mount similar to what Dave seems to be describing.  It seemed to measure way
lower than what I expected, which is the reason I moved it.  The delta was something like 20 degrees low in the filter
mount.  I attribute the lower reading to not having adequate oil flow around the sensor.  In the filter mount, the
sensor sits back in a sort of alcove.  Up on the adapter, it stick into the middle of the flow.
