Thanks, Marv,
I looked them up on their new web site Ray Allen and got some ideas from
it. I think I will use a10 turn pot with a gear and rack and then drive a
10 position LED bar with the output to form an indicator. Very similar to
what they have done.

I took some photos today of the ladder display and linear sensor from MAC.
This first pair is with the sensor at its fully extended position and the
display lit in the closed position.
The readout has no legend on it... the legend on this one is a black vinyl
overlay, and now that I've taken a closer look at it I think I'm going to
replace it. The alignment of the white bars with the LEDs is off by a
bit.
Fortunately I have a couple spares.
