Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: Linear Position Transducer?
>>>I've done a lot of Web surfing and found a number of linear postion
potentiometers. The problem is they cost more than I have invested in the
manifold. Regular audio linear potentiometers do not have the mechanical
range I need. I need a position indictor that has at least 5 1/2 - 6" of
travel. Anyone have any ideal where something reasonably priced might be
found.<<<
Contact the folks at Menzimer (aka MAC servos).... they have a linear
sensor
that is reasonably priced. It is a bit shorter than what you're looking
for,
but a ratioed lever operator would be the easiest and most positive setup
you
could come up with (IMHO). BTW, they also have an LED ladder readout that
matches the output of their sensor. We're using one on that LIVP I'm
working
on to track the movement of the radiator nacelle door, and it works great.

Ok, thanks, Marv
I check it out. I like not having to develop my own ladder indicator
although they are simple enough
