The early Hiller H-23's used engine oil in there transmissions and had all
kinds of trouble that was cured by going to a separate oil system for the
transmission. Don't know if that applies here or not.

I flew the Ross PSRU 200 hours on my Long EZ (rotary)
and after 2 failures I am installing a Marcotte PSRU.
Ross recommended using engine oil and Marcotte says to
use gearbox oil that requires a reservoir. I will be
going with Marcotte's recommendation. I feel the plus
is I will be using clean gear oil that is formulated
for gearboxes not hot dirty engine oil. The BIG guys
(airliners) use separate oil systems for their
accessories. There are airplanes flying with the Ross
system. To each is their own.
