Dave,
Just talked to the "ACT" flywheel manuf. and the 13.8 lb and 9.8 lb flywheels are identical
(same ring gear_125 teeth) except for extra mill work to take 2 lbs of the 9.8 lb version......
If you happen to have the starter flange to gear teeth measurement handy please send it
to me as I am doing most of this 55 miles from my hangar/shop and I do not have the RD1X
starter with me at the moment..................Will compare the Turbo starter with your starters
measurements.............By the way rotation on all these starters is the same.............I still am
about 99.9% sure that the 9.8 lb flywheel can have at least 2 more lbs removed from the
clutch friction surface without hurting structural integrity for our use.............IMHO
Thanks,

Great, I have the flange-to-gear teeth measurement on the current starter, to compare to the turbo starter when it comes in. The other thing you will have to check is the direction of rotation. Another solution is to mill down the adapter plate and start flange to get it to stick out another 0.37. Could probably get away with 0.17 on each for a total of 0.34.

Dave,
Still waiting for the Turbo Starter to get here...........Probably by Wednesday as it is coming from
near Ft Worth, Tx to Okla City...................So should know before long if the starter and ring gear
mismatch can be solved with a simple starter change..............As of this moment have not heard
from the "ACT" flywheel manuf. about the 9.8 lb flywheel ring gear teeth # but my bet is it is the
same as the 13.8 lb flywheel with 2 more lbs whittled off of it !!...............
