I need to add some pitch to that prop. 5500 rpm and it doesn't even
start to pull the airplane. The engine is running much richer than I'd
like at the moment, but with it running this smoothly across the rpm
range, I have a good place to start.
I found one more small oil leak in my gearbox, but it should be simple
to fix.
The big problem is that the front rotor is running as much as 300
degrees cooler than the rear. After reviewing how my manifold is
set-up, I think this should have been obvious. I have the air exit the
throttle body, directly into the manifold, so that the air blows across
the openings for the four runners. The air would dam up at the rear of
the manifold, and that is where the opening for the hot rotor is. I'll
have to do some composite rework to give a similar airflow to both rotors.
