OK Chris, just to save you from excess parenthood, here's what little
flying stuff I've been doing.

I'm still working on RV-8 oil cooling in my occasional spare hours.
Very strange problem that I haven't fully understood yet.  I'm at the
point where I plan to move the oil cooler to a different location.
Will talk more about it after I get it fixed.
Need a new pre-pump fuel filter.  The Jegs filter started restricting
flow (shows up as fuel pressure) at high throttle after 23 hours with
only a small amount of debris in it. (it can be disassembled for
cleaning).

I love the airplane though.  Feels very 'muscular'.  ROC of 3600 fpm
with a FP cruise prop.  Exceeds VNE in level flight without even
breathing hard.

Hey guys, do I have to go have another baby to get some activity on the list?  Geez, there must be something going on.  If I have to I will take one for the team and go out and find some likely candidates to practice with, but come on....we must be doing some work on our rotaries.

I <sniff> miss you guys.

BTW, is Tracy back yet?  I have my "extra" ECU I need to send in.

All the best,

Chris

Steve,
Thanks for checking this on your set up. I just sent Tracy an email off
line about this. I am thinking that there must be an issue with the
controller, unless he has some other test I can do. I am out of ideas on
things to check at this point.

Steve,

Last night I tried to determine the effects of miswiring a properly
functioning CAS to one of my EC2’s

Reversing the two CAS signals resulted in no sparks (no coil control
signal pulses generated and not one spark seen at any RPM).

Disconnecting either or both of the CAS signals resulted in no sparks.

Reversing the polarity of either one of the CAS sensors also resulted
in no sparks.

Reversing the polarity of both CAS sensors resulted in sparks that
appeared normal in intensity and timing. This last condition may be a
non-issue or possibly an insidious problem. Probably only Tracy would
know which would be the case. The sensible thing would be to wire
things according to his recommendations, of course.

In any case, I could not produce the symptoms you are seeing by
miswiring known good components as described.

Again, for what it is worth…
