Bill, you might try some of the hydraulic fitting websites.
This is for those just starting on engine stuff....
Much as I prefer to order stuff on-line, I found that (multiple) visits
to my local hydraulics shop were a great help. I'd go in with a bunch
of stuff and say something along the lines of "Fred, I need to
make this fit into the hole made for that, using nothing but this....".
Fred & I got to know each other real well over a 12 month period,
and the prices were reasonable (in comparison to on line stores, anyway
- there were times when I just gave him the credit card and didn't want
to look at the receipt). These days I can picture the stuff I need and
order on-line, but as a newbie that one-on-one and the opportunity to
touch & feel all the alternatives, was very useful for getting my
head around all the issues and options with hoses, pipes and fittings.
Another tip while I'm at it - a trip to the local u-pick breakers yard
can be very helpful. I found a few stripped Mazdas and picked up all
the various nuts, bolts & washers people had dropped while removing
what they needed. Total cost was $5 for about 5lb of stuff. I still
find bolts I need in those old plastic bins.
