Here are three pictures of my exhaust installation.  The first time I sent them they did not go through because they were just over 300 k.
I used a tangential "can" to make the 180 deg. turn.  Bobby Hughes has a neat installation using a 180 deg. bend but his cowl has more room than mine because I have my cooling radiators under the engine.    The first photo is the exhaust manifold on the engine with my tangential can welded onto the manifold.  Second photo shows the muffler installed and the last photo(next E Mail) is with heat shields. I also added a heat sheald between the muffler and the side of the cowl.

The current easy, cheap and quiet solution is to use the RX-8 Renesis engine with the much tamer exhaust, use the RX-8 exhaust  manifold, weld on a 180 deg. turn and couple it to the Hushpower II Resonator.  Fits under the cowl and I have 130 hr. flying without a problem.
