Subject: TDC, reluctors
I am fabricating a distributorless ignition
system (with MUCH help from Lynn H) for my 2004 carbureted(Weber) renesis
engine, which requires 3 pick-ups. one for the waste-spark leading plugs, and
one for each trailing plug. the flex plate seems difficult to access and
has large bolts/nuts spinning, so it seems to me that a reluctor wheel on the
other end (near where the current one is) would be easiest. the existing
wheel doesn't have much protruding. it could conceivably be made and inch
bigger in dia. but would run very close to the belt and my triggers would
conflict.
is the second pulley normally
used for powersteering or A/C? could I mount a new reluctor wheel on it,
pretty much any size I wanted? I assume the alternator pulley is in
alignment with the water pump?(don't have one yet) are people running a
second alt. off that second pulley? am I missing something
big?(not again!) kevin
