Assuming that your engine is in spec condition, I would recommend looking at the cranking power. Potential problem areas would be, battery size, length and size of starter cable, and grounding.
Just my .02c, trying to help.

We've got some long runs.. nose to tail, but we used 2 gauge or 4 gauge..I cant remember which. Its heavy.. its substantial, but I wanted to ABSOLUTELY minimize voltage drop over such a long run. He's got a pair of aircraft batteries, but when they are charged they put out.. We also have a charger cart hooked up to it when we do prolonged testing for cranking.. and trickle for recharge afterwards. Havent sorted out our charging system, so this is the solution.
I've not been to the hangar in a while.. I dont think Chris has indicated any CRANKING problem, rather a STARTING problem when hot.
I'm leaning towards fuel issues rich versus lean.. I swung by the jail today and chatted with him.. the hot start procedure i recommended made no difference.
