The current software for the EM2 clears the alarm light on power-up and does not reflect out of limit conditions until the engine is started. The flashing light buged me while I was doing my pre-engine start checklist stuff and served no useful purpose since many things will be out prior to startup. The out of limit parameters displayed on screen will blink as usual. As soon as you start the engine it should start the alarm light if anything is out of limits.
BTW, recently noticed that the spec in the instructions on the alarm light is wrong. The maximum drive current for the alarm light should be 200 ma (.2 amps), not .4 amps as shown. The manual has been revised as of today. Check your bulb rating to avoid overheating and failure of the alarm driver transistor. An LED type indicator is the prefered type.
Was very sad to hear of Gaylen's loss of his RV-8. My condolences Gaylen, loosing years of labor and love lavished on an airplane is a tough hit.

Is there a test mode on the EM2 warning lamp? My alternator is only putting out 12.6 volts and my EM2 has the voltage flashing, as it should. But my warning light doesn't light up. Shouldn't it? It hasnt lit up yet, even with the engine not started and 0 oil pressure.
