Greg,
Twin turbos are intended to increase power all
the way up the RPM range of the engine. Aircraft engines have narrower
power band usages than that: Max power, cruise and idle. Idle we don't care
about; if you're trying to increase power from idle (e.g., a go-around
situation), you are just going to max power. So you can use a single turbo (just
like all factory-designed turbo installations) to address the max power (i.e.,
takeoff) and cruise power needs, saving weight and complexity.
You might go racing with your plane but you'll
never have to pull away from a traffic light or gear down to round a
corner.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: [FlyRotary]To
turbo or not to turbo
Has anyone tried the dual turbo installation in their
AC Do they hold up? I know they were using them in some
racing applications, and I am trying (again) to determine which is the best
way to go here.....
