I went and had my cowling cut out virtually perfectly on the firewall side to give me a uniform 3/8 inch gap between the cowling and spinner and then I happened to pull my IV0 prop through a rotation and it hit the intake opening! Since everything I have ever read says to adjust your cowling to the spinner back plate I couldn't believe they built this cowling with the intake sitting out further than the front top opening...
