Thanks, Buly

Yes, it took a while for me to feel comfortable making long trips.  Always the knowledge that should you have an engine problem, the FBO can provide no help.  I've never had the engine let me down - now,  I screwed up a rebuild and ended up having to rebuild in a abandon garage in the middle of the summer in Louisiana (so I have some empathy for your hangar temps {:>)). But, that was my fault - not the engines.

Great seeing you and your spouse, need to have you there with your bird next year!

Best Regards

Ed

Thanks for the report Ed. Wish I can make long trips like that one  day? It was nice to see you again at S&F and all the rest of the  rotary guys. I was surprised to see all the rotary planes and the  constant activity around the rotary corner inside the engine tent.  This year I can say the rotary is making visible progress compared to  other engines.
I'm rewiring the injectors with shielded wire and hoping this will eliminate my high rpm headset noise problem? Today inside my hangar  was 96F. Summer has arrived in S. FL.

Hi Gang,

Made a 1600 mile detour from Sun & Fun to Louisiana to visit with Grandson and meet his French girlfriend.   Had a great time at Sun  & Fun.  Was invited by Tracy and Laura to pitch my tent beside them  again this year, I think mainly for the entertainment value  provided.  Ask Laura when you next see her about, awnings, rain,  lafumas and leaking air mattress.

I installed my new model EFI system monitor for the return flight  home. Discovered immediately that I need to turn up the brightness  of the display for full sun.  Now that I have the "Snubber" fix for  my EC2 provided by Tracy during my stop - over with he and Laura  that my monitor and the EC2 now agree without my historic fudge- factor.  The first stop I onloaded 25 gallons of fuel and the  monitor showed 25.09 gallons used.  So accuracy is looking good.

Unfortunately leaving Louisiana on Friday, I found I had 50+ MPH  tail wind.   Landed to refuel in Northern Alabama, taxied back on  the taxiway parallel to the runway and turned to get onto the  runway.  I thought - "Well, the FAA is really getting serious about  runway-incursions, they have placed rumble strips across the taxi  way's just before the runway."

With that thought filed away, I continued to turn and align for  take off.  NOW I thought this is carrying it too far.  Rumble  strips on the taxi way is one thing - rumble strips on the runway  is another.   About that time the light bulb came on - I had a flat  tire.  Sure enough it was the nose wheel tire - flatter than a  pancake.  Fortunately I carry a spare tube and there was a mechanic  there and I was on my way after about an hour delay.

I think everyone has covered the Sun & Fun events.  We ended up  having 5 rotary aircraft there including Rich's newly painted RV-3  as well as Max Lassache flying his beautiful Falcair -12?

So a great time and enjoyed seeing a number of you there.

'Till next time

Ed
