On commom rail system, we have to keep in mind the fact of very high fuel pressure, up to 21000psi !!. This is the pressure in the fuel rail, very high, compared to up 3000psi injection pressure on mechanical diesel pump. There is certainly not much room for experimenting, i would think. FWIW.
