I lined the bottom of my cowling with it to protect the fiberglass from the heat of the exhaust - unfortunately, it absorbs oil like a wick and I was concerned about just that. Perhaps,if you cover the fiberfax with something like SS or anything to keep the oil away, then it may be OK. I also found it fairly fragile and easy to tear. Just my experience with it - YMMV Ed ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dean Van Winkle" To: "Rotary motors in aircraft" Sent: Saturday, March 17, 2007 12:26 AM Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: pressure caps > John > > I believe Tracy and others have used the SS/Fiberfrax approach to protect > the belly from exhaust heat and that is the approach that I plan to take > with my rotary powered RV-9A. > > Dean Van Winkle > Fus/Finish/FWF > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Bulent Aliev" > To: "Rotary motors in aircraft" > Sent: Friday, March 16, 2007 7:53 PM > Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: pressure caps > > >> John, I bought a 29 pound pressure cap MOROSO on ebay.
