I tried stainless steel coarse wool as well as = a 2000 deg ceramic stuffing. Both could survive the heat and materially = reduce the harshness of the exhaust bark - but none would live past a = couple of weeks. Pulverized and blown out the end. But, that was my = experience, hopefully you will have better results. I would suggest = anything you can do to break up the shock pulse before it gets to any = sound absorption material the longer it will live.
