But, I can not take any credit (other than for my contraption), many others 
have led the way and I only know what I gleaned from the Internet {:>).

Yes, if this thing works (I have not seen anything on the internet like it), 
it could make it easier for consistent laying of the solder paste.  At least 
that is my hope.

I think if a cheap video magnifier were available that would help a great 
deal.  But, until then the old magnifying lamp and hand held lens is about 
all we have.
