John, these are normally referred to as Saginaw fittings as they were first developed for automobiles.  The DO need to installed with the O ring, if you try with sealant the fuel pressure will eventually cause them to leak.

Rusty, looking back in my notes I see you used the GM fuel filter with the 16mm x 1.5p fittings from Earls, pt. nr. 991955.  I have these that I ordered from Jegs, they are power steering fittings and have an o-ring on them, did you use the o-ring or did you put sealer on the threads and tighten them down.  JohnD      getting to point where I may have only 1 or 2 thousand things to hook up.
