Yep, I'm re-doing the whole exhaust system. No more inconel and no more

tangential collector.  It's probably going to be 2" x .065 wall, 321

Stainless tubes going to a collector and muffler of some sort. I seriously

like the idea of non-welded joints - nothing to break off!

Joe;

So glad that you were so very attentive, and realized something was amiss before things got seriously bad.  Great job!

Now tell me more about the muffler, since I probably have something very similar on my 3-rotor.  You got this from Atkins?  Inconel headers (2”) tangentially into 5” inconel tube?  Was this welded by Atkins buddy, Mark Sadikas?

How is your setup different than Dave Atkin’s.  I’m not aware that he has had any problems with the inconel version.

I’d like to know more about your heat shielding around the muffler.  Is there any cooling air flow around the muffler?

Sorry for so many questions, but I have been concerned about the thermal stress issue in the design.  The only other data point I had was Dave’s.  Mine is different being a 3-rotor; but the concept is the same.

Any photos appreciated.

Thanks,

Al
