Something is seriously wrong here.   I don't know what you are adjusting but it is not the timing. My seat of the pants best guess is that you have a wiring problem between the ec2 and the control panel causing it to select the wrong mode.

I need a little help here with this Mode 8 stuff.  Ed, I did some tweeking at cruise today to check the timing, and then I remembered why I quit trying last time!

Testing was done at 4000 MSL, 80F, 4800 RPM, about 23 inches MAP.

I get absolutely no change of anything in the "increase" direction.  In the "decrease" direction, just one click gives me a drastic 2 GPH drop in fuel flow, and the EGT shoots up with a noticeable loss of power.  More clicks in that direction change nothing.  No matter how many clicks I go toward the "decrease", it only takes one click back to the right to restore the original condition and more clicks to the right change nothing.

Am I going nuts here, or what????  I did it several times at different RPMs, etc, and always got the same sort of results.  It is like a two-position toggle marked "good/bad"!  I have checked the static timing previously, and it is right where the instructions say to put it.

Ideas????
