Now, that's what we want to hear!
Even if it means temporarily hanging an intercooler outside the cowling - try it. Sounds like it could make all the difference in power.

Actually, I've been harassed quite a bit by rotary non-believers at the airport.  Oddly enough, it's having just the opposite effect on me.  I have to confess that I "decided" Saturday to pull the wings off the plane, and take it home to remove the turbo, and rebuild the cowl.  During the process of removing stuff, one of my "friends" stopped by and proceeded to take some sort of I-told-you-so pleasure from my task.  He went on to suggest that I should use the time at home to put a Lycoming on instead.  Not long after he left, I found myself re-assembling everything again, so the plane is right back where it started. 
 
Either I just became more determined to prove this will work, or I need professional counseling.  It's too close to call :-)
