The FD manuals give an intake air temp limit, and indeed have a temp
(and pressure) sensor located there! Read your manuals for your turbo
engine model you have!! My twin turbo temp sensor has an upper test
limit of 176F, so beware things much over that! The circuitry logic will
retard the timing in small increments depending on the temp and the
knock inputs, and it cuts fuel to the rear rotor when intake pressures
reach 54" hg! PS, you can get the stock FD intercoolers for a song
(Nylon end tanks, alum fins). Maybe even the TI and TII previous
intercooler models as well. They are sort of in the same category as the
ac coils. You don't need much intercooler airflow at 140kts to really
cool that intake charge. Do your test with that intercooler with the
proper airflow thru it as well. Standing still your engine will heat
soak while running.

PPS: Did anyone hear that the new rx8 engine needs a new oil pan?
Apparently it is not baffled well enough to prevent false oil level and
or pressure indications! Also the AC needs a fix. Sounds like the rx8 is
going thru the same birthing pains as the 1993 rx7 tt to me.

Ambient temp, and intake air temp when first started- 90

Ran at 22" MAP to warm up, then started taking temps when it stabilized

MAP / temp F / RPM

22" / 105 / 3000

20" / 128 / 4225

30" / 167 / 5000

36" / 196 / 5500

40" / 214 / 5700

44" / 228 / 5800

50" a couple seconds, no temps or RPM, but no loud expensive noises
either
