YIKES!!! I didn’t know that could be an
issue. Fortunately I’m done fueling with plastic containers since Arlington
(KAWO) has mogas on the field.
Thanx for the heads up!

Tank for Gasoline
So right, not something to be involved with. I was
using "approved" 5 gallon plastic gasoline containers hauling Auto
Gas when static electricity ignited, the funnel I was holding, the 5 gallon
container, my wing tank, the tarmac, etc. Fortunately, got them all out
without damage to me (other than jangled nerves) or the aircraft, but
swore off plastic containers from that point on. Do yourself a favor and
use metal containers and make certain they are grounded to the aircraft..

Joe, I hope you are
not using plastic containers. They can create lots of static while refueling. I
bought 4 new steel jerry cans for $15 each. I believe Ed had a flash fire
refueling from a plastic container?

I looked
into those but ultimately decided I didn’t have the equipment or ability to
move 150-300lbs of fuel (25-50 gals) in one shot. So, Lowes or Home Depot
was having a sale on 5gal containers and I for about $6 each and I got 5 of
them.
My airport has MoGas so I don’t need to transport fuel to the
airport – the 5 gal containers were used when I was testing gas tanks and
running the engine at home.

[FlyRotary] Transfer Tank for Gasoline
What have others done for transporting auto fuel to the
airport. My FWF test trailer is almost complete and I need to purchase a
fuel tank. I find lost of tanks for diesel but not for gasoline. I would
like to keep the tank for transferring fuel once flying. Any ideas? I am
considering an above deck marine tank.
