I took a look on Dogpile search engine and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel.engine
came up and it tells more than you may like to know. There is a diesel 4
cylinder opposed engine manufactured in East Germany certified for a
direct replacement for the Cessna 172. My old farm tractor has compression
of 14 to 1 and smokes like crazy. The new engines go to 25 to 1.
Injection pressure has increased from 2800 psi of 40 years ago to 24,000 to
26,000 lbs with electronic fuel injection, result, new diesels smoke very, very
little and are quite effecienct. In 1970 I drove a Mack truck getting 2.3
miles per gallon, today 6 to 8 mpg is not uncommon. Any way Rusty, you
can put the aircraft diesel in you RV and burn anything from peanut oil to
