Here are a few pictures of the Ford core with a
tank cut off. I can easily understand how this would flow better than the GM
core with the baffles drilled out. I would think it would be a better heat
exchanger as well as the increase in surface area that the coolant sees as it
flows through the finned slots should be significant.
As you can see this is a three pass design. There
is one baffle on this side at 1/3 of the core. On the other side the tube goes
to the bottom and there is one baffle on the bottom 1/3. This forces the
coolant to flow through 3 times.
