I think I’m all calibrated now. I
got the Oil Pressure to stop being a negative number…not quite sure how – but
playing around with parameter 6 (the other Scale Factor) in the range of 32767
(actually about 512 above it) seemed to set the sign bit and once set it has
remained.
I also discovered that the
butterfly set screw on the intake was down a little too far – i.e. the
throttle was open about an 1/8” at idle. I reset that to about 1/16” and
started it up again. Oh my, she prrrrrrrs so nice
now. RPM now – still without prop
– is 1750-1800, Oil Pres 65-70, Fuel Pres 50.
I ran it for about 5 minutes only
cracking the throttle a couple of times just to see what would happen (can’t
help myself) – and with the tiniest of movement of the throttle it wants to
jump to 2500-3000 RPM! So next –
other than chasing little leaks of fuel, coolant, and oil – is mounting the
prop and looking at the MAP to see how well the MicroTech stock settings fit. I’ve got an old Laptop I’ve
got to rebuild so I can install the MicroTech
software. That will make reviewing the Maps and Data Logs much easier than
trying to review them on an LCD 2 line display (that’s the handset that comes
with the MicroTech).
