Doug,
 To be really accurate you need to run the thermocouple leads in the same wire. (material) What Bob is talking about is that each time you put a standard steel pin connector in line it causes a minor error in the reading. If you need thermocouple wire and connectors try Omega. WWW.OMEGA.com They sell a wide variety of scientific instruments heaters, controllers and thermocouples. They even have connectors with the pins made of the same material so you can be real accurate if needed. Sorry to be long winded if you already knew about this.
