S4 stands for  Series 4 RX-7 which was the 86-88 model years.  Series 5 is 89-91, and S6 is the 13B-REW from 93-95 (in this country).  I think there may have been a Series 7 with some small changes on the RX-7s made in Japan.

We just started using these terms here but they are otherwise widely used.  Saves on typing...  unless you have to explain it every time  :-)

The Weight codes are used for balancing the rotating assembly, and that is all I can tell you about that.

Sorry Dave, but I wouldn't count on this being a true statement.  I suspect
you will definately be unhappy if you get the wrong version counterweight
installed.

The difference between rotors is generally not much, and you're allowed to
have rotors that are something like 3 letter codes apart without balancing.
I don't think having the right series counterweight is optional though.

Rusty

Can someone translate all these buzzwords and explain how they relate to one
another?

S4, S5, S6, letter codes on rotors, etc???

Thanks,
Bill Bradburry
