Hi David,

The output voltage has to be regulated, and the regulator could fail
in a way that allows the voltage to go too high.  I don't know if the
maximum voltage you can get out of one of these would be as bad as a
runaway alternator, but I would still put in OVP.  With the PM, you
obviously can't kill the field, so the only option is to open the B
lead.
