My concern would be that the powder wouldn't flow down the tube, or that it would all blow out the first hole or two. I wouldn't be concerned much about the airflow provided stuff comes out the tube in the general area. Close counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and now fire extinquishers. I think your idea is a good one. I have an old, kitchen type extinquisher, that I keep with my welding equipment.
