The side housings were lapped and were within = specs.  I=20 tried to get the oil springs installed correctly but at this point I'm = double=20 guessing everything.

I will check the oil vent line for mist and run a pressure = check on=20 the coolant. Anyone have a cheap way do that--local Auto Zone, etc = stores don't=20 have a
pressure tester to rent.

If you don't have access = to a=20 traditional pressure tester, you could pressurize the system = via some other=20 convenient point like a temp sensor hole, water heater outlet, = etc.  If you=20 could rig a tire valve on a hose, with a gauge, then you could pump it = to=20 whatever your pressure cap will hold, and watch it.   =

I  put about four ounces in four gallons of gas and have = the=20 metering pump
if it is working.  Thanks for the=20 suggestions.

One=20 ounce per gallon is plenty, and extra "might" cause the smoking.  = I'd=20 consider disabling the metering pump temporarily just to make = sure it=20 isn't adding additional oil.  If that's not it, I'm afraid you'll = be going=20 back in the engine.

Good luck,
