I've been watching this thread with a great
deal of interest, since I will also need to be shielding the turbo from it's
surroundings.
Will encapsulating the turbo make it retain
heat that is normally dissipated, and make it run hotter ? I was just wondering
about that.

That's been the age old question with regard to
wrapping headers. Of course the people who make the heat wrap
material say there's no problem, yet the header manufacturers say it voids their
warranty. I have to believe that it isn't the ideal solution for a
turbo, but allowing all that heat to enter the cowling may do more
harm than what could happen to the turbo. Unfortunately, I just don't
think anyone really knows.
