I have not completely given up on the Evans. Best I can tell
my temps are 20-40 deg warmer with the evans but that is really hard to
tell because I only have 2 brief flights with water and the new
intake.
The big question is: since the drive is going back to Tracy soon, should I
switch to the RD-1C or stick with the B-model?
As Buly
mentioned, the rotation is different, but you did want a new prop anyway
right? The biggest problem is the thrust offset. If your
current mount offsets the prop to the left, then switching to a -C
drive will be somewhat of a problem. On the RV-3, it was a
hand (and foot) full on takeoff when I changed to the -C drive. Now that I
shimmed the mount back to zero offset, it's a pussycat. Of
course you realize what's involved in changing the mount
angle...
Since you're
determined to make the turbo work, you can get about as much power as you want
that way, so I'm not sure I'd bother with the new drive. I'm
still hoping that I can get a significant improvement in power with the new
intake, so I won't have to pursue the turbo
again.
Cheers,
