Sorry guys for leaving out the most
important detail (well, it made sense to me.) I think this has already been
addressed by Lynn,
but just to be sure, here is the missing piece.
You count the number of teeth between the
two marks, divide this number by 2, and then put a paint mark on that tooth.
This tooth, which should be exactly half-way between the two marks, will be
TDC.

I have read this a dozen times; I cannot make sense of it!
What do I do after I count the teeth? And what tooth do I place the
mark on?

Rotate the engine back again to
align this tooth with the pointer. This will be TDC.
