From Paul Lamar's list it has just been posted that the p port engine
on the dyno at MazdaTrix with remote fuel injectors is now running very
well, developing 220 hp (this sounds like a 6000 rpm number to me but
the post did not say the rpm) and it is idling smoothly at 1000 rpm.

Hi Jerry,

220 at 6000 would be impressive, assuming there are no big negatives we don't know about.  Did they specifically say they checked the throttle response?  Do you know what ECU they're using?  It could be that they can tune out some of the the remote injector problems. Any idea what they're using for a muffler?

For the record, who's actually conducting the dyno runs, and who's reporting the results?  I would be more skeptical of the reports, if they're only coming from PL, as he's well known for only telling us what he wants us to hear.

Don't get me wrong, I AM interested, just skeptical.  I won't do anything significant with the RV-3 engine for a while, so hopefully, more details will be available.  Unfortunately, I don't think it's ever been a problem getting good numbers from a PP engine on a dyno, but the problems occur in the real world, from fuel mileage, noise, and "drivability" issues (which could be meaningless to us, or not).

Cheers,
Rusty (250 HP would be nice)
