They are set up spring loaded to open 75% or more if a cable breaks. You can always reduce power with mixture or ignition switches, but you can't add power if the cable fails & the throttle snaps shut. Most guys doing auto conversions find a way to reverse the action of the return spring. FWIW, Charlie
